Blast From the Past: Dolly Edition

Anyone remember these two? Did you have them when you were little? Gosh, I loved my dolls. I distinctly remember the Christmas that I received My Friend Mandy. Dare I say, it was about 31 years ago. Holy cow am I old. I use to spend hours playing with these dolls with my neighbor, Alice. My parents brought Jenny and Mandy out to me this fall, and I am so happy to have them. Unfortunately, I'd given both of them haircuts at one point, but for the most part, they are in great condition. I'm having all I can do not to sit and play with their hair. Maybe I will when nobody is looking.

I still have my Mandy doll - I loved her. I also had a change of outfits and shoes!!

I still have Jenny - she sits on a shelf in Leah's room. Her hair is a disaster - she didn't get a haircut, but it sticks straight out. I had Mandy when I was little, but she must've gotten lost along the way. I have been eyeing one on eBay though... That's great that your parents saved them for you!

Somehow I missed knowing about these dolls. I do remember having a Holly Hobbie doll around 1977 but her head fell off and freaked me out-didn't have a lot of dolls after that.

Love your new photo!

How nice that your parents saved your dolls and brought them to you. Go ahead and play with them!

It's nice to see "the girls" again. I hadn't seen them in at least 25 years, I bet. They've stood the ravages of time well.

Aunt Jean - Didn't I hold you hostage once, and breathe down your neck until you'd sewn multiple outfits for Mandy? I seem to remember a red sundress with a matching kerchief...

Absolutely you held me hostage. You sat in a rocking chair, rifle across your lap if memory serves, and kept asking me "Is it done yet?" as I feverishly worked at the sewing machine. I was scared out of my wits that I wouldn't get it done when you wanted it done.
