Trooper

My sweet Camden had some oral surgery yesterday, and he was a brave little guy. He was born with an extra adult front tooth, and we found out last week that the time had come to remove it so that his teeth would have a chance at coming in somewhat normally. The extra tooth was wedged in between his two adult front teeth, and it was growing upside down. So, to remove it, the oral surgeon had to remove his two front baby teeth, and then extract the extra tooth from the roof of his mouth. Ouch!

Posing for his "before" picture, before we left home

Waking up disoriented, post-surgery. Poor baby!

Saying goodbye to Nurse Kelly (yes, that is most definitely Blue Bunny, peeking out from behind the blanket!)

The New Look

Although he's not too crazy about the stitches in the roof of his mouth, he has been a great little patient. We'll have another day of rest today, and then I suspect Camden will be right back to his regular shenanigans.

A special shout-out to the Rogers brothers for stopping by with treats for Cam yesterday - - you boys made his day! Also, thanks to friends who called and stopped by to check on him. He was especially excited when his teacher called him last night. He is well-loved, for sure.

Poor Camden!! I'm glad he had Blue Bunny with him :) I'm sure it was a difficult time for both of you, but on a lighthearted note - he is just so darn cute !!! And while I'm sorry he had to lose his front teeth the hard way, he has an adorable new smile :0) Take care Camden!

Oh, what a sweet little boy. He did better than I ever would have! Now he has something to share at show & tell. It was nice of his teacher to call him. She's a peach.

Camden, You're just as handsome with the teeth missing as you were before yesterday. Glad to hear you were very brave, and also glad to hear Blue Bunny offered support. I'd tell you to keep a stiff upper lip, but that's probably exactly what you do have at the moment! Love, Uncle Ken and Aunt Jean

Yikes, poor little guy. Thank goodness for Blue Bunny! He is just as sweet without his two front teeth as he was before. And how thoughtful it was of his teacher to call and check on him, that must have made Camden feel "very important". Hope he is doing well.

Thanks, Aunt Jean...one of the first things Camden asked me when I told him he had to have his teeth taken out was, "Can I bring Blue Bunny?" Good old Blue Bunny.

Cheryl, Camden has such a great teacher - - she loves him a lot and yes, he was quite pleased that she called him!

Oh Heather, I feel your pain and Cole feels Camden's! With what we are going through right now with Cole, I can completely relate. Sigh...

Amazing what our kids can handle huh? I told Tony I need to learn a lesson from Cole!

Jenn, kids are definitely resiliant! Camden bounced right back and hasn't looked back. I think a lot of the things they go through are harder on us than on them. Most of my worrying prior to Camden's oral surgery ended up being senseless - - he showed me what a big boy he was.
