I Heart Cuisinart (and chocolate)

Please, go to your kitchens, grab all of our various appliances, and throw them in the garbage. Throw them away, I tell you! Now, do yourself a favor, and replace anything you've thrown away with a Cuisinart-brand product. I'm madly in love with Cuisinart, and I will try to convince anyone who will listen, that they should be, too.

You see, I've always been the kind of girl who buys what is on sale, not getting hung-up on name brand items. However, with age *ahem*, comes wisdom. First, I realized that a girl simply should not go through life wearing cheap bras. I'm sorry, but it is true. Then, I realized that sometimes it pays to splurge on certain hair care items (remember, I said sometimes). Now, as a homemaker, I spend way more time in the kitchen than I ever use to. I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, but I really only ever use that when faced with a recipe that requires heavy duty mixing (i.e., not often). As for hand mixers, I'd always owned one that I'd paid $14.99 for at a random department store, multiple times. That was until 2006, when I asked Santa for a Cuisinart PowerSelect 7-Speed hand mixer. I'm not sure what possessed me, because it was quite a bit more than I cared to spend on a kitchen appliance. The first time I fired that sucker up, however, I was sold. That mixer purred like a little kitty. Now I can't believe I wasted so many years on low-watt, wimpy mixers. This thing is awesome. The bad news is, after approximately one year of use of 2-3 times per week, the beaters decided they didn't want to stay in the mixer, usually while I was busy mixing. A pretty annoying problem. In steps my husband, thrifty man that he is, and fired an email off to Cuisinart to tell them about the problem. Last week, I was minding my own business, when the phone rang. It was a lovely man from Cuisinart calling. He proceeded to inform me that they'd received our email, and simply asked me to explain the problem with my mixer. I did, and he then informed me that they would send me a brand new one. No other questions asked. It arrived in the mail yesterday. Um, okay! I've told you before, I value good customer service. It is very hard to come by these days, which is pretty sad. So, I love Cuisinart not because they have the absolute best appliances - - I'm sure there are other great ones out there - - but because they have fabulous customer service. Seriously, I am jumping up and down and clapping my hands while I type this, I am so happy. Now, get thee to Target and buy yourself a new Cuisinart mixer. You know you want one.

While I am spending your hard-earned money for you, do yourself another favor and try to find yourself a Seattle Chocolates Truffle Bar. I'm not even supposed to eat chocolate, but if I'm going to be naughty and do it anyway, this is the chocolate I want to eat. It comes in a bunch of different flavors, but I like the Espresso or the Cappuccino Crunch the best. Yum!

My parents bought me a Cuisinart Waffle Maker last year. It is the best! We fed my husband's cousin and his family a couple of weeks ago for three days and they loved how everyone had waffles to eat while they were hot.

Now, next, you must visit the Cuisinart Resort on Anguilla.....talk about heaven. We had a grilled burger there, prior to the Buffet concert a year ago, and I will tell you it was one fabulous burger and I am not all that fond of hamburgers. And as an added plus they grow their own produce there.

All you need to do is alert your folks to the fact that you will be using their STM time share next January and you will be "in like Flynn" While you are there you must also have lunch at Scilly Cay..the very best grilled lobster....next to Maine lobster, of course.

Oh yes, the Cusinart mixer is the best....mine must be ten years old.....still going strong.

Now, if only my Jura Capresso coffee machine were as good. It is on its way NJ for a complete over-haul...talk about coffee withdrawals.....Please do not be upset, Mr. Coffee but I adore my Jura and those heavenly Illy coffee beans.

Forgot something.....Blanchard's(remember "A Walk on the beach") restaurant along with their latest venture, Zura is on Anguilla.....another major reason to head to STM. You can drop the boys off to us on STX for safe keeping.

I too, went through a few handmixers. However, last week I treated myself to a Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series Stand Mixer, on sale and free shipping, of course!! With tons of attachments and bowls! And, it matches the red decor of my kitchen! Off to make Carrot Cake Cookies with cream cheese filling for Benjamin's birthday "cake". Watch out Martha Stewart!

I had a similar experience with an Ameda breast pump...well, not the part about things falling off, but excellent customer service! :D It REALLY is amazing nowadays to find a company that treats it's customers well!

I think I feel the way about my Dyson vacuum that you do about your Cuisinart. I love it so much I think I should work for the company. If there was a Dyson Resort, I'd be there!

While at Target buying that mixer, you might want to pick up one of their Gilligan & O'Malley bras, too. I was just reading the latest issue of Consumer Reports, which includes an article entitled "3 bras, 3 prices; Which is the best deal'? CR tested the La Perla Vintage ($127), Victoria's Secret Ipex demi ($45), and Gilligan & O'Malley, which is sold at Target for $11. The best bra? The cheapest one! The Gilligan & O'Malley proved to be better designed, more comfortable, and more durable after repeated washings. Just an example of how spending more money doesn't always guarantee getting a better product. (And I love my Cuisinart food processor.)

Heather,
I have a Cuisinart coffee maker, (thank you Laureen and Trent!) and also a toaster oven. I love them! I will slowly replace the other "accessories" with Cuisinart when the time comes.
I made your apple crisp pie Sunday and it was a complete hit!

Cocoa - I will have to check out the Cuisinart waffle makers - - my generic waffle maker is on its last leg.

Susan - You are making me want to jump on the next plane to the Carribean! Someday...someday, I will eat at Blanchards. Must.

Cheryl - Carrot cake cookies with cream cheese frosting?? Um...YUM!!!!!!! Those sound sinful...

Melissa - Yay for Ameda! I love, love, love when companies take care of their customers.

Jen - I was excited to read your Dyson comment...I'm about to have a huge yard sale to sell all of our "baby gear" and am planning to use the proceeds to by myself a Dyson Animal. I can't wait to get my hands on that vacuum cleaner...

Auntie J - interesting info about the bras - - you know I love Target, so I'll have to check them out. Thanks!

Susie - Isn't that a yummy pie recipe? I think that is my new favorite apple pie...
