The Vortex

I challenged my dear friend Kate to update her blog today, and told her I would update mine in return. You see, I don't like it when I click on Kate's blog and find a stale post. I like to know what she's up to. Besides that, she cracks me up. However, I was also attempting to get my own blog back on track after a few weeks of nothing-ness. I know, I know - - you are never supposed to go on and on, when you haven't been blogging, about the fact that you haven't been blogging. But, since a relatively small group of people actually read this, I'll just go right ahead and say whatever I want.

I haven't felt like blogging. I just haven't. I've had plenty to talk about - - December was an especially busy month for the boys and I. My main problem is that I'm pretty sure I've gotten sucked into the dreaded Vortex of the Winter Blahs. The closer we got to Christmas, the more I was missing Steve. The more I was missing Steve, the more anti-social and withdrawn I felt. You see? The Vortex. The boys and I really had a wonderful Christmas day, but on the same token, it was an exceptionally lonely-feeling day for me. I guess I just haven't been able to shake that feeling ever since.I don't like feeling this way, especially when I can admit it, but still can't seem to get out of my own way and do anything about it. As much as I love having Camden home with me, I think it is going to help a great deal to get back to our "regular" schedule of school, Cub Scouts, and library work, starting tomorrow morning.

I am happy to report that, rather than eating loads of garbage to deal with my general feelings of blah, I've been hitting the treadmill instead. I know - - hard to believe....exercise feels way better than mindless eating. Who would have thought! Lets see if I can keep it up!

*I would like to add that Kate has not updated her blog as of publication of this post. You have three hours and some change, Kate!*
***UPDATE*** Thank you, Kate!

I am working on my post now but you know I have to fill it up with pictures and Blogger is not cooperating. I don't like when you go too long without posting because I worry about you with Steve gone. No posts might equal Heather not feeling very happy and I don't like that. Now, back to my post...

I felt very strange not posting any pictures with this post, but I didn't have any pictures that went with such a whiney post! :) Not to mention, I was feeling too lazy to deal with Blogger tonight! I am glad you are working on your post. I shall compulsively check your blog until it is up.

I love the name Camden. That is the town I am from.
You DID get a deal at Williams Sonoma! I didn't know they ever had anything that cheap. You did good!

Laurie - My son is named after the town of Camden, Maine (I was born and raised in Maine). As far as W-S goes, I rarely find a sale in the actual store, but when I do, it is generally a good one!

Hehe, so funny that you challenged your friend to update her blog as incentive to update yours! I can see how the vortex happens though- and I think Christmas is an especially "good" time for the vortex to work in either direction, whether it spins you positively or negatively. We all get carried away positively when surrounded by positive influences all the time, and likewise we can downturn when there's little to help drag us back up again. I'm impressed that you managed to hit the treadmill at this time though! I've spent today "finishing" off some champagne & some peanut butter ice cream. I felt it was my civic duty not to leave them hanging…..

Nicky, I assure you, the treadmill response is so not me...but I'm not going to knock it. :)
