I found this cute little tea light lamp at my local thrift store a while back, and I liked it, but it was a little rough around the edges. For 50 cents, I went ahead and grabbed it and waited for inspiration to strike.
For one thing, I didn't really care for the faux silver base. The lampshade was a bit faded, and it also had some staining around the top. So, last night, after I (finally) got the boys to bed for the night, I got out my little utility knife, some spray paint, fabric scraps and glue. The result?
The paint color is Krylon Oil-Rubbed Bronze, which is a nice, metallic-y brown. The fabric is just a piece of reproduction vintage that I picked up at some point. I love how it looks on the mantle. Much more to my liking, now!

Thanks, guys...I do have a lot of fun doing little projects like this one...it is something I have just recently started doing on a more regular basis. I am wondering if my neighbors think I'm nutty, because I'm always out in the yard, spray-painting something!

Hi Joyce! Thank you for leaving a comment. I'm originally from Maine, so we use to be neighbors! I used a hot glue gun to get the fabric on so smoothly. When I removed the old fabric, there was a paper liner on the shade (kind of like card stock), so, I just squirted the hot glue on the underside (top and bottom) and pressed it as I went. Had to be careful not to burn my fingers, but I always do when I'm using a glue gun, so oh well! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again!
