A Thrift Store Makeover

A couple of years ago, I found this beat-up old rolling cart at my local thrift store for $10.00. I immediately liked it, but didn't quite know what I would do with it. I brought it home anyway, and didn't get the inspiration to do anything with it until a couple of months ago.

So, I took it apart and gave all of the pieces a good scrubbing. Then, I gave each of the trays a coat of Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Primer in White. Next came a couple of coats of Krylon Indoor/Outdoor spray paint in Banner Red Gloss. Once it was dry, I put it all back together, and, voila! I had a brand new rolling bar/tea cart for my dining room:

I love how it turned out, and I'm glad I finally figured out what I wanted to do with it.

How nice the cart looks now. You did an great job with the cart and the color is so neat. My mom used to have one of those carts, how I would love to have one of those myself.

Very cool! Kind of retro! Again, I wish I had a crafty bone in my body....so clever!

Thanks, Cheryl! I see these carts all the time at local consignment shops.

Yes, Kirsten - - very retro, which fits right in with what I like. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade!

Well shoot! I just typed out a long reply to all of your nice comments, but Blogger ate it!

Karen, you are right, this would be perfect for your retro room! In fact, I saw a cart identical to this one, at an estate sale yesterday. It was screaming for a makeover!

Jenn, I would LOVE to spend more time searching for unique items to breathe new life into! It is amazing what can be done with a can of spray paint. In fact, I am busy on a project right now (the color: "Ballet Slipper") Stay tuned!
